On e ® ective resistivity and related parameters for periodic checkerboard composites
نویسنده
چکیده
An approach for nding the e¬ective properties of two-dimensional periodic rectangular checkerboard media is presented; it is demonstrated that one can take a relatively simple model problem, an appropriate system of joined quarter planes, and that after appropriate conformal transformation one can use this to solve for either periodic or doubly periodic structures. Illustrative calculations involving three-phase media are presented that, in limiting cases, recover earlier analyses. Useful asymptotic relations are also given.

The rapid printing of 3D parts with desired electrical properties enables numerous applications. New variational principles are developed for the e ective conductivity tensor for anisotropic two-phase electric conductors. Here the interface between phases is assumed to be highly conducting. Extra geometric information is encoded into the principles through the solution operators of simpler transport problems. These operators can be expressed as gradients of simple layer potentials with den...

The bulk properties of composites are known to depend strongly on the microstructure. This dependence can be quanti ed in terms of a representation introduced by D.
